The Rachel Corrie is coming

Rachel Corrie died in Gaza several years ago

The M/V Rachel Corrie is steaming toward Gaza as she tries to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza. I don’t think we will see a repeat of what we saw the other day when Israeli commandos boarded a ship and deaths occurred. Israel does not want that kind of publicity again. Why do these “peace activists” continue to mess with the state of Israel? The people these activists are helping don’t have a great track record of being peaceful!!

Rachel Corrie was a young American girl who was run over by an Israeli bulldozer in Gaza. She was part of a group that was acting as human shields in the area. It did not turn out too well for her. She has been called a martyr. The only problem with being a martyr is that to be one you have to be dead. Rachel stuck her head in a place where it did not belong and she paid the ultimate price for that mistake. A boat has been named after her and it’s carrying supplies toward Gaza right now.

Let’s just be frank about this entire deal. Israel uses disproportionate force most times when dealing with Gaza or anyone for that matter. They are a mean bunch that will protect their country with vigor. You can’t blame them for that. Israel should be able to better determine when the use of extreme force is required. They don’t do that well.

On the other hand the people who run the Gaza Strip, Hamas, is a terrorist organization. So Israel can deal pretty harshly with anyone who is trying to help Gaza out. You can’t separate Hamas and the normal people of Gaza. They are in this together. Hamas has vowed to annihilate Israel. They have shot thousands of rockets into Israel. Hamas has sent homicide bombers into Israel. The group has smuggled weapons into Gaza.

So the people of Gaza have given Israel all the ammo they need to continue to squeeze the Strip. I am sure we will see more “aid” coming to Gaza and I am sure we will see Israel stop that “aid” from getting to where it’s going until they inspect it. I generally pull for the Israelis. They don’t always play fair though. But they are a better lot than their terrorist adversaries.

Not a bad hub! Except I don't think Israel uses "disproportionate force" at all.

Hey Brenda Durham, well, I don't think Israel uses too much force at all either. I may not have made myself clear that they get blamed for using disproportionate force. I don't think I'd fight a guy if I had a rock and he had a gun. I wouldn't expect him to have to fight me with a rock like the Arabs do. Thanks for the read and comment.

What news channels do you look at, Fox News? If your country was being taken over mile by mile and your people's houses bulldozed, would you not fight back? Even if it was just with rocks. You really haven't a clue what's going on. Israel have no regard for International Law, they attacked ships in International waters and kidnapped civilians and then complained when these people fought back. Their blockade on Gaza is illegal and collective punishment to an entire race, women and children included, what the hell have they got to do with Hamas? Does it not remind you of the collective punishment Hitler applied on the Jews?

I look at Fox News about twice a year. So don't accuse me of being some kind of brainwashed conservative. Hamas has called for the destructions of Israel and has fired rockets indiscriminately at the country. Homicide bombers have been sent into Israel by this terrorist group. Some members of the aid group recently were members of the IHH, a Turkish terrorist organization. As you say, wouldn't you fight back! Israel has no desire to take over Gaza. I have a great clue of what's going on. I think you may be the one who has been clouded into thinking a terrorist group, Hamas, is a victim in this deal. You statement shows you have no knowledge of any facts at all. The blockade is legal under international law. The boarding of ships is legal in international waters. Your "facts" are what you want to believe not what's actually happening in the area. Israel has just as much right to protect itself as anyone else. And they do it with gusto!!

You are wrong, who the hell told you that the blockade was legal under International law and that the boarding of ships in International waters is legal? That's called Piracy! Please I've studied International law so don't talk rubbish to me.

Here why don't you read a proper Hub from someone who knows what they're talking about, and someone who has a lot more followers than you for very good reason: http://hubpages.com/hub/Gaza-This-Is-Not-A-War--It

Look waters, you are an idiot. No one has to tell me anything. If you studied "International law" you better try to get your money back!! I don't need to read a hub from anyone who thinks they know what they are talking about.

The blockade of Gaza is a form of collective punishment, and a war crime under international law. The invasion of Gaza on a pretext is the crime of aggression ans a war crime under international law. The Israelis only get away with it because the US allows them to.

Hey Mr. Stone. I know this is an issue that people just would never agree on. I have looked at many writings and such into this issue. Under the San Remo Manual Israel does have a right to blockade Gaza. Hamas fired thousands of rockets into Israel looking to harm anyone they could, including civilans. Now, that is a crime under any type of law; international, state, local and moral. I am no ardent Zionist. I don't even have anything Jewish near me. I do know that Israel has a right to defend herself which she does ardently. I know we would never agree on anything about this issue, but I feel my views are just a common sense look at the ordeal from something looking in from the outside.
